Light smoke remained in the first floor unit where an elderly person was present, however crews were able to isolate the elderly person in a separate room to eliminate smoke entering that area until it was removed from the apartment, according to fire officials.
Echo Hose Ambulance evaluated both occupants, fire officials said.
The Shelton Fire Marshal's Office also responded to the home and quickly completed an investigation, fire officials said.
The home is still habitable, according to fire officials.
"Please remember to never leave cooking grease or any food being heated up on a stove top unattended," fire officials wrote in a news release. "Conditions can change very rapidly, always use extreme caution."
