A Lifetime of Making Comics at City Lights Art Gallery

SHAZAAM! Look up in the sky… it is a bird, a plane… No, it's the City Lights banner at 37 Markle Court… heralding the new exhibit!

The City Lights Art Gallery located on 37 Markle Court in Bridgeport has curated a new exhibition called a Lifetime of Making Comics. This whimsical show is featuring the he creators and artists of Beetle Bailey, the Flash, Superman, DONDI, Wonder Woman, Dennis the Menace, the Green Lantern, Hi and Lois, Batman and more! There is an opening reception planned for Thursday, May 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Gallery goers will have fun viewing original art and original recreations. There will also be prints for sale along with working sketches. Local artists include, Chance Brown, Irwin Hasen, Frank McLaughlin, Mort, Brian and Greg Walker. This exhibit is in memory of Irwin Hasen, who recently passed at 96, after a long lifetime of making comics, which included the comic strip DONDI. City Lights notes a special thanks to Dan Makara and Frank McLaughlin for lending works from their private collections for the exhibit which will also include chosen work from Frank’s students from Paier School of Art in Hamden.
