Local Volunteers Teach Junior Achievement Program to K-4 Students at Booth Hill Elementary in Shelton

Mayor Mark Lauretti Kicks Off 'JA in a Day' Program in Shelton

Junior Achievement of Western CT and sixteen community and business volunteers, including some from Sikorsky Aircraft, shared their time and knowledge to teach important financial concepts to 330 students, grades K-4, at Booth Hill Elementary School in Shelton on Friday, April 22, 2016. Mayor Mark Lauretti kicked off the day by encouraging and thanking the JA volunteers.

One of the programs that was taught, JA Our City®, used hands on activities to introduce students to the basics of financial literacy, the characteristics of cities, and how people and businesses in cities manage their money.

Junior Achievement facilitates community-school programs where trained local business people volunteer their time in schools to teach students about a variety of topics including career and work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
