Long Road To Recovery For Victim Of Fallen Tree On Wilbur Cross Parkway

A GoFundMe page has been established to help the family of Shelton business owner Chris Scofield of Stratford.

STRATFORD, CT — The road to recovery for Shelton business Chris Scofield will be a long one, and to help, a GoFundMe page has been established to assist the Stratford resident who was seriously injured last week when a tree fell on his company van on the Wilbur Cross Parkway.

Scofield and his business partner Dominic Andreozzi were both seriously injured in the crash, which occurred near exit 58 between Derby and Orange. The two own a plumbing business, A&S Mechanical.

According to Scofield's family, he was on the mend from battling cancer just before the accident, reports Fox61 News, the potential medical costs from the crash could prove devastating to his family.

"As most of you know on Thursday March 2nd Chris and his business partner were in a serious car accident. a 50,000+pound tree fell onto the company van while they were traveling on the Merritt Parkway," wrote Scofield's wife on GoFundMe. "Both were injured - Dom is home recovering - Chris however, won't be home for at least 2 months. He is currently in Yale New Haven Hospital in the Trauma Unit. He will be there for at least another 10-14 days. After that, because we live in a 3rd floor apartment - he can't come home. He has to go to a rehab facility for another 4-8 weeks - possibly more."

As of this morning, March 7, the page had raised $8,925 toward a goal of $25,000.
