Longtime Connecticut Television Traffic Reporter Drives Away

Rachel Lutzker is ending a more than 20-year career reporting on Connecticut's traffic on TV.

CONNECTICUT — One of the most recognizable voices on Connecticut television and radio airwaves is signing off on TV.

Fox61's veteran traffic reporter Rachel Lutzker announced that this is her final week on-air with the Connecticut station, after more than 20 years of helping residents navigate the roadways.

"This has been a long time coming and an emotional few days and now it's actually here... tomorrow is when I will wrap it up... After more than 20 years of reporting traffic across the state of CT for both radio and TV... I am hanging up my traffic hat," Lutzker wrote on Facebook Thursday (see below).

In addition to Fox61, Lutzker, a native New Yorker and mother of three, also worked for WFSB-TV and WCBS-TV, and is the voice of traffic reports on The River 105.9 FM and iHeartMedia radio stations in Connecticut.

She said she is leaving to spend more time with her family, but she intends to remain on radio.

"While I am stepping away from reporting traffic, I am not totally going away," she wrote. "I have been an iHeartRadio employee for over 20 years and feel incredibly fortunate that I will remain connected and will continue to be with you, as I have been, with my radio show on The River 105.9."

News of her television departure sparked an outpouring of love from her hundreds of fans on Facebook and Twitter, all wishing her the best on the move.

"I thank you for trusting me over the years and hope you'll join me for the next chapter of this journey," she said.
