Masks Optional Policy Considered By Shelton Schools: Report
Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont is recommending the state end its school mask mandate on Feb. 28, and allow districts to decide on a policy.
SHELTON, CT — Shelton Public Schools is considering a mask policy "based on individual choice," after Gov. Ned Lamont recommended the state's mask mandate end on Feb. 28, the Connecticut Post reported.
The Shelton district has not finalized a new policy, and Schools Superintendent Ken Saranich reportedly said the district will have to wait for the state legislature to act on Lamont's recommendation before anything is decided locally.
Lamont is angling to give the decision on masking back to individual school districts, much like how the governor gave responsibility for community mask decisions to municipalities.
