Friday - Sunday May 9th, 10th & 11th , the Shelton Jaycees are running a Mother's Day Flower Sale at the Pine Rock Fire Department, 722 Long Hill Ave. in Shelton. Proceeds will benefit the Shelton Jaycees and the Pine Rock Park Volunteer Fire Department.
There will be over 200 beautiful hanging baskets to choose from along withdozens of annuals in assorted flats. There will be 4" potted Geraniums &New Guinea Impatiens plus 8" potted Geraniums in every color. Event runsFri. 10am-8pm., Sat. & Sun. 8 am - 6 pm.

They are a registered non-profit 501C-4 and they run dozens of community events each year. Members volunteer as much or as little as they like based on their interest in the event. Their purpose is to provide leadership training and experience through community action over and above what's available through employers and other organizations.
Because the membership's interests are so varied, this creates a huge variety of events. Their best known project is their Annual Arts & Crafts Fair (6/8/14), always on the Huntington Green. They've also run a very large Car Show at Riverwalk Park for several years. Each year they run events and support charities like the American Cancer Society and the Valley Food Bank. Members share personal and professional skills at events like an Introduction to Astronomy Seminar, and a Digital Photography seminar. Just recently several members attended the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event to support the Rape Crisis Center in Milford.
