Police ID Tree Worker Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Shelton: PD

SHELTON, CT — Police have identified a man who was fatally struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon in Shelton.

In a news release, Police Det. Christopher Nugent said Erick Irizarry, 29, of Waterbury, was working for Asplundh Tree Service in the area of School and Monroe streets around 1 p.m. when he was struck by a work vehicle.

Police, fire and Emergency Medical Services crews responded to the area and found an unresponsive man, who was later identified as Irizarry. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Nugent.

The Office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was also notified and responded to the area, Nugent said.

Nugent also noted the incident remains under active investigation by Shelton police.
