SCC Wrestling Championships Postponed Until Sunday

Weigh-ins will begin at 11 a.m. at Daniel Hand High School in Madison

Due to the forecast of inclement weather on Saturday, the Southern Connecticut Conference Wrestling Championships have been postponed.

Originally scheduled for Saturday, they have been pushed back until Sunday at Daniel Hand High School in Madison. Weigh-ins will start at 11 a.m. with competition beginning at noon.

Shelton's best chance for medals rest with Mark Failla (106 pounds), Sean Kellett (126) and Ed Hunt (132).

Hunt, 29-3 this season, has won SCC titles the last two years and finished third in the Class LL meet last season.

In addition, Kellet (25-5) captured an SCC title last year at 119 pounds before finishing fourth in Class LL. He has 133 career wins, second in school history behind Pat Gillen, who set a state record with 204 wins before graduating last year.

Failla was third in the SCC last year in the 103-pound class, then finished fourth in the Class LL championship.
