Shelton Company Helps Marketers Target Cell Phone-only Users
Survey Sampling International, with offices in Shelton, recently unveiled two new services — SSI Wireless Screener and SSI Wireless GEO-ID — which it claims can help marketers hone-in on voters who have gone "wireless only."

With the under-35 set in favor of wireless communications devices, political campaign strategists are faced with a conundrum: How to accurately poll younger voters for their opinions.
Because federal law prohibits "robocalls" to cell phones, campaign strategists must use live agents to conduct political surveys. However in order to save on labor and communication costs, random auto-dialing is not an option: They need know which cell phone numbers are "active" in order to efficiently carry out campaigns.

The company's SSI Wireless Screener (see attached PDF) helps marketers develop a directory of "active" cell phone numbers which they can use to reduce the amount of time it takes to poll a population segment, while the company's GEO-ID service ties cell phone numbers to billing zip codes so marketers can conduct geo-specific campaigns.
"The real innovation is when we're generating a wireless telephone sample," Jessica Smith, SSI vice president Offline Client Services, told the CT Post.
