SHELTON, CT — A 5.1-acre property at 55 Blacks Hill Road in Shelton, which the city is trying to acquire for future development, likely will be condemned by the city, because officials and the parcel's owners are far apart on a price, reported the Connecticut Post.

The owners reportedly want $1.7 million for the property. But according to the attorney who represents the owners, the city's most recent offer was less than $350,000.

Shelton has agreed to purchase a significantly smaller parcel at 56 Blacks Hill Road for $590,000, which attorney Patricia Sullivan said has less developmental potential than 55 Blacks Hill Road.

If the city follows through with condemnation, a judge will then set a fair market value for the property.
