Shelton Content with Interim Police Chief: Report

Former Chief Joel Hurliman retired a year ago, and was replaced on a temporary basis by Police Capt. Shawn Sequeira.

SHELTON, CT — It appears that interim Shelton Police Chief Shawn Sequeira will be keeping the "temporary" tag a while longer.

Mayor Mark Lauretti tells the Shelton Herald that he is in no rush to appoint a permanent chief. Sequeira, a captain, retired from the Connecticut State Police to join the Shelton force. He took over for former Chief Joel Hurliman, who retired in October of last year.

The city has not yet posted an advertisement to fill the position, but Lauretti expects Shelton to do so sometime in the next couple of months.
