Shelton Football Blanked In Home Opener

After opening the season with a pair of come-from-behind wins on the road, the Shelton football team turned in a disappointing performance in its home opener Friday as the Gaels suffered a 28-0 loss to Notre Dame of West Haven at Finn Stadium.

Shelton's defense kept Notre Dame's offense out of the end zone in the first half as the only points came on Detoro Eamon's 42-yard interception return in the second period.

But the Green Knights, who improved to 2-1, pulled away with 21 points in the second half.

Nathan Schambach tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Malik Tinney in the third quarter to make it 14-0 before Amihr Bess added a 1-yard run.

Cameron Tucker completed the scoring with a 15-yard TD scamper in the final period. 

Shelton looks to rebound on Thursday at Hamden (7 p.m.)
