Shelton Football Holds Off Guilford, 17-12

Frank Camerino rushed for 110 yards Friday as the Shelton football team held off Guilford 17-12 in a SCC contest that came down to the final play.

Guilford, which trailed 17-6 at one point, had a chance to pull out a dramatic win, but a pass was knocked down in the end zone as time expired.

After Camerino's 60-yard TD run gave the Gaels an early lead, the Indians pulled with 7-6 on Joe Noff's 72-yard scamper.

Ed Groth kicked a 38-yard field goal in the second quarter for a 10-6 halftime lead, then caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from his brother Ed to make it 17-6 in the third period.

Guilford (2-3) pulled within 17-12 on Casey Horton's 13-yard TD run. There was no scoring in the fourth quarter.
