The Shelton football team kept its slim Class LL state playoffs hopes alive Friday with a 42-28 victory over Cheshire.
Frank Camerino rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown and sophomore Connor Wallon tossed three TD passes as the Gaels improved to 7-2 heading into their regular-season finale against Derby.
Shelton jumped out to a 14-0 lead on Camerino's 40-yard and Ed Kochiss' 25 TD reception Wallon.

Wallon then hooked up for scoring plays of 48 and 33 yards as the Gaels built a 28-14 lead in the third quarter.
After Cheshire closed within 28-21 on Mike Ecke's 60-yard TD pass to Sebastian Little, Jagger Kalajian restored Shelton's two-TD margin with a 14-yard scoring burst.

Ecke, who also rushed for TDs, found Tim Kubel for a 13-yard scoring play to again bring the Rams (4-5) within a score.
However, Gary Thompson provided an insurance score for Shelton with a 1-yard TD plunge.
