Shelton Man Pleads Guilty in Downtown Milford Restaurant Robbery

He is facing a lengthy sentencing in July.

Jose Octavio Balserio, 42, of Hill Street in Shelton, faces a nine-year prison sentence on July 9 after pleading guilty to first-degree robbery of the now-closed Indigo by the Water Restaurant on Schooner Lane in Milford.

Balserio pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery this week for the April 20, 2014 robbery, the New Haven Register reports.

At the time police said that Balserio and an accomplice broke into the restaurant afterhours, brandishing a gun and robbed the place.

The Register reports that they stole $5,000. Balserio’s accomplice, a Bridgeport man, was already sentenced to seven years in prison.
