Shelton Mayor Could See $25K Increase in Salary

The Board of Alderman hired a consultant who made the recommendation. Public comments will be heard on Jan. 27.

The mayor of Shelton could see $25,500 more in their bank account after the next election, according to the CT Post.

Shelton’s current mayor Mark Lauretti is in his 11th term and earns $110,193. A consultant hired by the Board of Alderman, David Dunn, made the recommendation to increase the mayor’s salary by $25,500 over a three year period.

According to the Post, Dunn recommended the mayor’s salary be increased to $119,193, after the November 2015 election. The $25,500 increase will take place in three phases with the second increase going to $129,293 in November of 2016 and the third raise going to $135,659 in November of 2017.

A public hearing will be held on Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. in City Hall to consider public comments. The full board will vote on the ordinance in February.
