Shelton Nursing Home Fined

The home was fined after an incident in April.

SHELTON, CT — Gardner Heights Health Care Center was fined nearly $3,500 after a resident with a history of swallowing issues choked on a lasagna noodle.

Suction had to be used to remove the noodle, according to the Connecticut Health Investigative Team.

The resident's care plan called for her to be supervised at all meals by staff, but the resident began choking when an aide attended to another resident. To sign up for Shelton and Derby breaking news alerts and more, click here.
