Shelton Nursing Home Penalized After Patient Dies Following Lengthy Exposure to 95-Degree Heat: Report

The patient was left outside in a garden for more than three hours on a blisteringly hot day in July.

SHELTON, CT — Gardner Heights Health Care Center in Shelton reportedly was fined $3,000 by the state Department of Public Health after a patient died following exposure to 95-degree heat outside for more than three hours.

Connecticut Health I-Team's Kate Farrish writes that the patient died after they were left outside in a garden at the facility on July 27.

The patient reportedly was in good condition at 2:30 p.m. that day, but was not checked again until 5 p.m. when they were found unresponsive. They died less than an hour later, according to the publication.
