The Shelton girls basketball team opens its season on Wednesday at Foran in a 7 p.m. tip.
The Gaelettes are coming off a 16-8 season in which they reached the semifinals of the Southern Connecticut Conference playoffs before losing in the first round of the Class LL state tournament.

Shelton will be led the senior trio of forward Kelly Pendagast (8.2 ppg), guard Brittany Lampert (2.3ppg) and guard Lauren Mccone. (4.0ppg). Pendagast also was the club's leading rebounder a year ago.
The Gaelettes graduated last year's leading scorer Melissa Corraro, who averaged 12.5 points per game.
