Terry Tarpey outscored in the first half Tuesday as the Fairfield Prep basketball team rolled to a 64-46 victory over the Gaels.
Tarpey finished with 28 points -- 18 in the first half - for the Jesuits, who improved to 16-2 following their 11th consecutive victory. Fairfield Prep held a 34-13 lead at the intermission.

The Jesuits boast the third-best record in the SCC behind Hillhouse (18-0), the state's second-ranked team, and Career, which took a 16-1 mark into Tuesday's game against Hand.
Kyle Packnick scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Shelton, which dropped to 7-11. The Gaels need to win one of their remaining two games to qualify for the state tournament.

Freshman Tommy Nolan added 10 points for the Jesuits, who build their lead as high as 21 in the third quarter.
The Gaels made a run, pulling within nine, before Fairfield Prep took a 44-33 lead into the final period. The Jesuits then used a 8-0 spurt to build their advantage back up to 18 down the stretch.
The Jesuits host Foran on Friday while the Gaels play at Branford.
