Shelton Woman Charged With DUI in Orange as 2 Kids Slept in the Backseat

Orange police officers conducting radar patrol observed a vehicle traveling at 71 mph in a 45 mph zone earlier this month on Derby Avenue.

Upon stopping the vehicle, officers had the driver perform standardized roadside sobriety tests. Amber Steeves, 29, of Lynne Terrace in Shelton, was subsequently taken into custody and charged with DUI.

Officers observed two minor-aged children sleeping in the backseat of the vehicle, leading to the risk of injury charges.

She was released after posting a $10,000 bond.
