Shelton Woman Killed in Crash: Police

Police are investigating after a Shelton woman died in a crash Thursday evening in the area of Bridgeport Avenue and Nells Rock Road.

According to police, officers responded to the area for a head-on collision around 6:30 p.m. After an initial investigation, police found that a Buick Century driven by 24-year-old Leigh Sabo was traveling north on Bridgeport Avenue and struck a Mazda driven by a 41-year-old Monroe resident.

The Monroe resident was traveling south on Bridgeport Avenue and suffered minor injuries, police said.

Sabo was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Her 15-month-old daughter who was in the vehicle was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Sabo was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team is currently investigation this accident. No enforcement action has been taken at this time.
