Solar Energy System Activated at Trap Falls Reservoir in Shelton

Aquarion Water Company and Shelton-based OPEL technologies complete installation of solar energy system at the D.W. Loiselle Water Treatment Plant at Trap Falls Reservoir in Shelton.

Solar technology firm OPEL Technologies Inc., with offices at 3 Corporate Drive, Suite 204, has reportedly completed installation of a tracker-based solar energy system at the 's D.W. Loiselle Water Treatment Plant at in .

According to a press release, construction of the solar facility, which employs both models of solar trackers OPEL makes, the TF-800 single-axis tracker and the SF-45 dual-axis tracker, began in September of 2011.

As to be expected, the system is tied in with United Illuminating Company’s grid and any electricity not used by Aquarion's facility will be fed into the supply and the water company will be credited. This, in turn, should help hold down operating costs.
