VCF, Mizzi Cosmetics Help the Hands of Griffin Nurses
The Valley Community Foundation Board of Directors and Mizzi Cosmetics recently provided some welcomed pampering to the nurses at Griffin

The Valley Community Foundation Board of Directors (VCF) and Mizzi Cosmetics recently provided some welcomed pampering to the nurses at Griffin Hospital in Derby.
VCF President/CEO Sharon Closius and Board Member Nancy Valentine joined Mizzi Cosmetics Founder and Ansonia native Brenda Mierzejewski in delivering 400 boxes of hand creams and lip balm to Griffin on July 22 to help nurses and other caregivers whose hands and lips may have been irritated from gloves, personal protective equipment, and sanitizer use.
The Portland, CT-based company makes cosmetics using only natural and organic ingredients. Mizzi has gained national fame since starting in 2013. Celebrity Kylie Jenner mentioned Mizzi products on social media and the company’s lip balm made it into a swag bag at the 87th Academy Awards in 2015.

In lieu of the VCF annual reception, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the VCF Board of Directors voted to utilize the money budgeted for this event to show its gratitude to healthcare workers at the front line of the fight against the virus.
Mizzi has also been supporting front line workers and was especially eager to be contacted about having their products given out to Griffin since this is the community where its founder grew up, Closius said. Mierzejewski not only gave VCF a discounted rate for the lip balm and hand cream, she also donated the spray hand sanitizer and provided attractive packaging for the gifts.
