You Might Want To Avoid Getting Sick In Connecticut, New Report Says

According to personal finance website WalletHub, Connecticut is not a particularly good state for practicing doctors.

You could go to worse state than Connecticut to be treated for an illness, but a new report essentially says that you could do a whole lot better.

That's because Connecticut is not a particularly good state for practicing doctors, in fact it is ranked 45th in the nation, according to the personal finance website WalletHub.

But don't think crossing the border to a neighboring state will lead to a significantly better patient outcome. New York checks in at 51st, Massachusetts 46th and Rhode Island 47th. Nearby New Jersey is 49th.

To come up with the ranking, WalletHub crunched numbers from the 50 states and District of Columbia in "14 key metrics."

"Our data set ranges from average annual wage of physicians to hospitals per capita to quality of public hospital system," wrote author, and WalletHub senior writer and editor, John S. Kiernan. Click here to view the complete methodology.

Connecticut offers one of the lowest average annual wages for doctors, but from a physician's standpoint, the state also has one of the least punitive medical boards.

New York is the worst state for doctors to practice in (#51), followed by DC (#50), New Jersey (#49), Maryland (#48), Rhode Island (#47), Massachusetts (#46) and Connecticut.

On the other end needle, so to speak, the best state for doctors to practice in is Iowa, followed by Minnesota (#2), Idaho (#3), Wisconsin (#4) and Kansas (#5).
