You're Still Not Happy with Gov. Malloy's Performance: Report

An updated survey by Morning Consult shows the Connecticut governor's approval numbers are growing worse.

Gov. Dannel Malloy remains the second least-popular governor in America, according to an updated report by media and technology company Morning Consult.

In May, Malloy was only ahead of Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder for the dubious honor of being the most disliked governor, but now Snyder has been replaced by Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, according to Morning Consult. After Brownback and Malloy, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is the third most disliked governor.

Malloy's poor performance numbers from Morning Consult were backed up, as it were, by a similar survey over the summer by a Quinnipiac University, in which Connecticut voters also gave him low marks.

"Morning Consult surveyed 71,900 registered voters in all 50 states from early May 2016 through early September 2016," the report states. "Survey respondents were asked whether they approved or disapproved of their governor’s job performance."

Brownback's disapproval rating is 71 percent, compared to only a 23 percent approval rating. Malloy is close behind at 70 percent disapproval, 26 percent approval. Christie's numbers, 68 percent disapproval, 29 percent approval.

Rounding out the top five are Snyder in fourth place, and Maine Gov. Paul Lepage in fifth. Malloy is the only Democrat in the top five of disliked governors.

On the flip side, the most popular governor in the country is South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard, a Republican, with a 74 percent approval rating and only 15 percent disapproval rating.
