14 Simsbury Artists Earn Scholastic Art Awards
Students' artwork featured in a gallery at The Hartford Art School

On January 27, 2019, 8 Simsbury High School and 6 Henry James Memorial School students were recognized for their achievement during the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition, hosted by the Connecticut Art Education Association (CAEA) for students in grades 7-12 across the state of Connecticut. The awards ceremony took place at the University of Hartford Lincoln Theater.
Artwork is submitted to a jury of professional artists who evaluate works based on three criteria: originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Each piece is awarded at a different level: Honorable Mention, Silver Key, Gold Key, and various scholarships. Students whose pieces win Gold Keys at the regional level will have their artwork judged at a national level by a panel of professional artists in New York City.
