Dump Your Home Waste At Regional Event In Simsbury

Residents of Avon, Canton, Farmington, Granby, Simsbury, and Suffield can dispose of hazardous waste this weekend.

SIMSBURY, CT — Residents in six neighboring communities will have an opportunity to safely dispose of household hazardous waste during a regional collection event scheduled for Saturday, June 13, in Simsbury.

The towns of Avon, Farmington, Canton, Granby, Simsbury and Suffield are hosting household hazardous waste collections throughout 2026 for materials that cannot be placed in regular trash.

The next collection will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Simsbury Public Works Facility, 66 Town Forest Road, West Simsbury.

The program is open to residents of the six participating towns.

Officials said participants should bring proof of residency and remain in their vehicles during the event while attendants direct traffic and assist with disposal.

Accepted items include household hazardous materials such as pesticides, paints, cleaning chemicals, antifreeze and similar products. Quantities are limited to reasonable household amounts, and commercially generated waste will not be accepted.

In addition to hazardous waste disposal, residents may bring up to two copy paper-sized boxes of documents for on-site shredding.

Officials noted that residents who only need to dispose of paint are encouraged to use the PaintCare recycling program instead, as hazardous waste collection events can experience long wait times.

PaintCare operates paint drop-off locations throughout Connecticut under a state-mandated recycling program.

A final household hazardous waste collection for 2026 is scheduled for Oct. 10 at the Simsbury Public Works Facility.

Additional information about accepted materials and event guidelines is available through the participating towns' public works departments.
