Accepted items include household hazardous materials such as pesticides, paints, cleaning chemicals, antifreeze and similar products. Quantities are limited to reasonable household amounts, and commercially generated waste will not be accepted.
In addition to hazardous waste disposal, residents may bring up to two copy paper-sized boxes of documents for on-site shredding.
Officials noted that residents who only need to dispose of paint are encouraged to use the PaintCare recycling program instead, as hazardous waste collection events can experience long wait times.
PaintCare operates paint drop-off locations throughout Connecticut under a state-mandated recycling program.
A final household hazardous waste collection for 2026 is scheduled for Oct. 10 at the Simsbury Public Works Facility.
Additional information about accepted materials and event guidelines is available through the participating towns' public works departments.
