1. Historic Simsbury Building Gets Large State Grant For Renovations (patch.com) — Simsbury residents can look forward to a major upgrade of Eno Memorial Hall, as a new $1.6 million state grant will help fund roof and HVAC replacements at the historic building. Local and state leaders say the money will ease the burden on taxpayers while preserving this key Simsbury landmark, which houses the senior center and serves as a community and arts hub.
2. Proposed car wash draws suburban CT community pushback. Part of it is over water use. (courant.com) — Simsbury officials are set to decide tonight whether a 7,275-square-foot car wash can be added to the Dorset Crossing development along Route 202, despite strong resident concerns about aquifer safety and drought. The Zoning Commission will vote at Town Hall after mixed recommendations from other boards, while the developer and water company insist the project meets environmental and water-supply standards.
3. Simsbury Stop & Shop property sells for $17.3M (hartfordbusiness.com) — A key piece of Simsbury Commons, the Stop & Shop property, has been sold for $17.3 million to an affiliate of national real estate investor Realty Income Corp. The grocery store will remain under a long-term lease, following recent upgrades, while other Simsbury Commons businesses like Walgreens and Apple Cinemas were not part of the deal.
4. River Hawks hope to take that next step in 2026 (collinsvillepress.com) — Farmington High's River Hawks are gearing up for a stronger 2026 season, and Simsbury fans will see them visit for a Friday night rivalry game on Oct. 9. With an experienced quarterback and deep offensive and defensive lines, Farmington hopes to turn last year's close losses into wins, making that Simsbury matchup one to watch.
