Simsbury Residents can now sign up for community garden plots which are located on Sand Hill Road behind Ethel Walker School. Regular and organic plots 12'x50' are $25 for the season, which runs from approximately late April until the end of October. Plots are plowed, weather permitting, in late April.
Many Simsbury residents have lawns that are too shady to grown vegetables, or live in condos or apartments which do not have any space for gardening. The Community Gardens give anyone in Simsbury a chance to garden, whether it be vegetables or flowers! Gardening can also be a family affair, and children may be convinced to eat more vegetables if they plant their own seeds and nurture their own plants!
Registration can be done on the Simsbury Parks and Recreation Department website www.simsburyrec.com, or on the phone 860-658-3836, or by visiting the Recreation Department, which is temporarily located in an office trailer st the Simsbury Farms golf pro shop parking lot.
