The blaze took place at a 175-acre horse farm near the base of Talcott Mountain.

SIMSBURY, CT — A raging fire engulfed a barn at a large horse farm on Route 185 in Simsbury Thursday morning, killing 24 horses, according to a social media post from the farm.
The fire at Folly Farm, a family-owned 175-acre equestrian and events facility at the base of Talcott Mountain at 74 Hartford Road, closed Route 185 from Nod Road into Bloomfield, Simsbury police said.
"There are no words to express our sorrow this morning," read a post on the farm's Facebook page. "The fire department is still investigating the possible cause of the fire in our arena barn however 24 of our beloved horses have passed away due to smoke inhalation. Our hearts are broken. These horses and our clients are our family. Thank you to everyone for the outpouring of support."
