Christmas Day Crash Kills One In Simsbury: Police

The accident happened late in the morning on Monday.

SIMSBURY, CT — Local police are investigating the cause of a fatal car accident in Simsbury on Christmas morning.

According to the Simsbury Police Department, officers were called at 11:14 a.m. for reports of a single-vehicle accident in the area of Sand Hill Road at Red Oak Court.

Police said the vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a tree.

"The preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Sand Hill Road, when it went off the roadway and collided with a tree near the intersection of Red Oak Court," police wrote in a statement.

Responders immediately began life-saving efforts to the driver, who was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced dead.

Police said the identity of the victim has not been released yet and the case is active and under investigation.
