Cobb School Auction Celebrates School’s Founding in 1974
70s Glam Auction a Goodwin Hotel a Huge Success
Hartford, CT (26 Jan. 2019) — The Cobb School, Montessori in Simsbury held its annual auction Saturday, January 26 at the Goodwin Hotel in Hartford, catered by Cobb School parent, award-winning Chef Tyler Anderson. To celebrate the school’s 1974 founding, the auction committee orchestrated a blowout, glam 70s party, and the attendees took to the task. They arrived decked out in sideburns, sunglasses, and all things celebrating the great decade of bellbottoms and fringe.
This year’s Cobb School auction was particularly special because it marked the last auction for school founder and head Mary Lou Cobb. Mrs. Cobb will step down from the helm on June 30 after 45 years of service. On Saturday night Mrs. Cobb showed no signs of tiring. She danced as she has for the last 44 auctions.
