Recent Death Notices From Simsbury

SIMSBURY, CT — The following deaths of Simsbury and West Simsbury residents were recently announced by local funeral homes.

• Tammy Newton Wilson, 62, of Simsbury, died Oct. 3. Born in Panama City, Fla., she is survived by her husband, Mark Wilson, and her children, Jordan Toomey and Matthew Wilson. Source: Carmon Funeral Home.

• Danny Dimitry Shewchuk, 86, of West Simsbury, died Sept. 29. After graduating from high school, he joined a work program associated with the Distant Early Warning radar line. Source: Vincent Funeral Home.

• Marge "Margi" (Gentilcore) Kozlowski, 89, of Simsbury, died Sept. 26. Born in Manchester, she was a proud first-generation American. Source: Vincent Funeral Home.

• William "Bill" Edwards, 97, a West Simsbury resident for more than 55 years, died Sept. 24, two days before his 98th birthday. A teacher, coach and landscaper, he was known to his family as "Grampa Birdie" and "Cappy." Source: Vincent Funeral Home.

• Cornelia Eaton Haberlin, 88, of Simsbury, died Sept. 21. Formerly of Woodbridge, she graduated from Hopkins School and Salem College. She is survived by her sons, George W. and John E. Haberlin. Source: Carmon Funeral Home.

• Julius "Junior" Salvatore, 91, a lifelong Simsbury resident, died Sept. 17. He worked for many years at Ensign-Bickford and Simsbury Paint and Decorating, helped build Simsbury Self Storage and founded Julius Salvatore Enterprises, a carpentry business. Source: Vincent Funeral Home.

• Marie Thompson, 77, of Simsbury, died Sept. 8 following a yearslong battle with myasthenia gravis. Formerly of Muncie, Ind., she worked for more than 30 years in the bursar's office at Ball State University. Source: Vincent Funeral Home.
