SAT Essay Writing Workshop

Local tutor, Martha Gilbert will offer hands-on essay workshops on October 30, November 1 or November 29 for students who will be taking the SAT this fall.  Students will learn strategies to write an effective essay, from the zinger of an introductory sentence, the art of brainstorming, and mechanics to writing a powerful and impressive conclusion. During each evening, students will have an opportunity to experience a timed practice on writing an effective essay and will get feedback on their essays.  This is a wonderful opportunity for students to work in a small group to improve this important skill. About Martha: Martha Gilbert has been a tutor for 8 years covering the subjects of English, History, study skills, SSAT and SAT prep. She has a B.A. Wheaton College, Classics and American History, Trinity College, and has completed Master's Classes in American Studies at Harvard University. She lives in Simsbury and is a mother of four children.  Space is limited to 15 students. (Note: Students should only register for one of the sessions - each of the sessions is identical). Pre-registration is required. Open to all.
