The Simsbury Friends for Music and Performing Arts will be hosting an Open House on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 7pm at Simsbury High School (Room 172 in the Music Wing), where community members can learn more about supporting music and performing arts in the Simsbury Public Schools.
The Simsbury Friends for Music and Performing Arts is a non-profit organization founded in 1987 and made up of volunteers who are committed to the concept that music and the performing arts are meaningful, necessary, and valuable curriculum components of a well-rounded education. The organization supports music and performing arts at every grade level, K-12, in all of Simsbury’s public schools, through volunteering and by funding enrichment and enhancement opportunities that go beyond programs that can be funded by the Board of Education.
Parents and other community members who would like to support the arts in Simsbury are welcome to drop by the Open House to meet members of the Simsbury Friends for Music and Performing Arts and to learn more about the organization, including volunteer opportunities. As little as an hour per year of your time can go a long way in supporting student artists in our community.
