Farmington Valley Quilters' February 20 Meeting

Members Teaching Members: creating shadows on fabrics, lip balm case, faux piping binding, square-in-a-square block, thread painting.

Several Farmington Valley Quilters’ members will make short presentations at the February meeting on February 20. Lynn Veith will show how to create shadows on fabrics, using everyday items and some household cleaning fluids. Objects appear to be floating on the fabric. Margaret Omartian’s lip balm case uses small bright fabric scraps so you can locate your lip balm easier.

Faux piping binding, good for quilts that will get lots of loving use, is Ingrid Nelson’s demonstration. Jean Williams has a scrap fabric project for a square-in-a-square block without rulers and fuss. Robin Schofield uses free motion thread painting to create animal faces and other images. A quilt exhibit at the Simsbury Public Library has Schofield’s cat and rooster until the end of January.

The meeting is Wednesday, February 20 at 7:00 pm in Eno Memorial Hall, 754 Hopmeadow St, Simsbury. Sign-in begins at 6:45 pm. Guests are welcome for a guest fee of $10.
