This September, the Storyteller’s Cottage will host author talks with five successful local authors: Tina Angeli, Marilyn Simon Rothstein, Serene Hackel, Mary K. Savarese, and James M. Chesbro. Author Talk With Tina Angeli

• September 12 | 7:00-8:30 pm
• Tina Angeli will speak about her book, We Are Angels: Positive Transformation Through Defining Moments, the story of how Tina's visits from angels and three near-death experiences shaped her life from childhood to adulthood.

Author Salon with Marilyn Simon Rothstein

• September 19 | 7:00-8:30 pm
• Marilyn Simon Rothstein is the author of Lift and Separate, winner of the Star Award presented by the Women's Fiction Writers Association for Outstanding Debut. Husbands And Other Sharp Objects is her second novel. Marilyn will lead a discussion on her books and have copies available for purchase.

Author Salon with Serene Hackel

• September 22 | 2:00-3:00 pm
• Serene Hackel speak about her book, Skipper Goes to War: The True Story of a Pilot and His Dog, the true story of the beloved cocker spaniel who served as a good luck charm and guardian angel for the young crewmen of the B-17 Flying Fortress in World War II. Serene worked with her husband Eugene Hackel to write this story of his experiences. After Eugene's passing, Serene wanted to honor his service by keeping the story of the crew's brash, positive outlook alive for new generations.

Author Talk with Mary K. Savarese

• Mary K. Savarese will host an intimate reading and discussion of her book, Tigers Love Bubble Baths & Obsession Perfume: Who Knew?, a contemporary spiritual mystery that transcends three generations.

Author Afternoon with James M. Chesbro

• September 29 | 3:00-4:30 pm
• James M. Chesbro will speak about his book, A Lion in the Snow, in which we find a contemporary father’s field guide, a husband’s compendium, and a wife’s glimpse into the turning mind of a spouse in the grounded prose of domestic conflict. Essays from A Lion in the Snow were chosen as notable selections in The Best American Essays series 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018, as well as The Best American Sports Writing 2014.

The Storyteller’s Cottage is located in a vintage Victorian house in the center of historic Simsbury, CT, and hosts all manner of immersive literary events throughout the year, including Agatha Christie inspired live murder mystery parties, Great Gatsby themed Jazz Supper Clubs, fascinating close-up illusions at Fine Parlor Magic nights, a Literary Dinner Party series on select evenings at midnight, and more.
