LETTER: John Hampton Is a Voice of Reason In Hartford
Opinions expressed are those of the letter writer and do not necessarily reflect the views of Patch Media. Opposing viewpoints are welcomed.

I have had the opportunity to get to know John Hampton as a resident of Simsbury and more recently work with John as Simsbury’s First Selectman. Simsbury is lucky to be represented in Hartford by John Hampton, an independent voice who has advocated strongly for structural reforms rather than short-term fixes.
John Hampton previously served nine years on Simsbury’s Board of Selectmen and nearly six years as our representative in Hartford. He has a demonstrated record of fiscal responsibility, and advocating for seniors, people with disabilities, and environmental stewardship. Just this year, John was instrumental in establishing Connecticut’s Statewide Water Plan, protecting one of our most precious natural resources.
John has stood on the right side of some of the most important issues of our time. I was pleased to see his support for a pay equity bill that seeks to prevent employers from asking for salary information, a practice that disproportionately suppresses the salaries of women. John also took an important vote this spring on a bill to ban bump stocks on guns.

At a time when our state and national politics is hyper partisan, John is a voice of reason in Hartford. I am proud to cast my vote for John Hampton on November 6th.

First Selectman, Simsbury
