The Healthy Mediterranean Diet: Class at Simsbury Library on March 26
Get a brief overview of the Mediterranean Diet from Robin Rhoades, a registered dietitian at Hartford Hospital: Thursday, 6:30 to 8 p.m.

This presentation will provide a brief overview of the Mediterranean Diet and its benefits. The Mediterranean Diet incorporates the basics of healthy eating — plus a splash of flavorful olive oil and perhaps even a glass of red wine — among other components characterizing the traditional cooking style of countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea.
There’s no single Mediterranean Diet plan, but in general, you’d be eating lots of fruits and vegetables, beans and nuts, healthy grains, fish, olive oil, small amounts of meat and dairy, and red wine. This lifestyle also encourages daily exercise, sharing meals with others, and enjoying it all.
Presenter Robin Rhoades is a Registered Dietitian on the staff of Diabetes LifeCare, Hartford Hospital since 2001. Her specialty is in teaching classes and counseling individuals with pre-diabetes, diabetes and weight issues. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition at Syracuse University, and began practice at Athens Regional Medical Center in Georgia.
