'My Grandma Had That:' New Simsbury Store Specializes In All Things 'Vintage'
Avon residents Katie and Shawn Damon have opened up a new vintage home goods store in a quaint part of Simsbury.
SIMSBURY, CT — If you want to know what makes Avon resident Katie Damon smile, just visit her new vintage goods store that she opened up earlier this month in Simsbury.
According to Damon, it is when someone is perusing her shop, which opened Feb. 1, and then utters, "My grandma had that."
Sycamore Vintage Home Goods is located at 2 Railroad St. (next to the Plan B restaurant), Simsbury, and it is home to Katie Damon and her husband Shawn Damon's newest venture.

On the first day of business on Sunday, Feb. 1, she said shoppers "discovered treasures including Polish pottery, vintage art, bakeware, stoneware, a spice rack and jars, whimsical plant charms, figurines, teapots and creamers, a vintage Hemingway, and more."

Specifically, the store specializes in furniture, artwork, lamps, glassware, pottery, and anything "vintage."
Store hours are weekdays from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., making the shop a perfect day trip destination for browsing and buying. The store is closed on Wednesdays.
Damon said the store is really a family affair, with both her parents and children regularly working there when able.
"We are inspired to source sustainable vintage goods as we continue to travel to collect and are committed to offering accessible pricing and easy to love one of a kind items," said Katie Damon.
