N.H. Man Pleads Guilty To Sexually Abusing Child, 5: Feds

The Simsbury Police Department and federal law enforcers conducted a joint investigation regarding the 59-year-old suspect.

MANCHESTER, N.H./SIMSBURY, CT — A Manchester, N.H., man pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in New Haven regarding the sexual abuse of a girl.

His plea and charges came after a Simsbury Police Department investigation.

Vanessa Roberts Avery, U.S. Attorney for Connecticut, announced Friday that David Eddy, 59, of Manchester, N.H., has waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in New Haven to child exploitation offenses stemming from his sexual abuse of a young girl.

According to court documents and statements made in court, in September 2022, Eddy sexually abused a minor girl, who was approximately 5, and used his cell phone to take photographs of his sexual abuse of the victim.

Avery said analysis of Eddy’s phone revealed more than 150 child sexual abuse images and videos of the minor victim and other child victims of sexual abuse.

She said that on Sept. 25 Eddy pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography, which carries a 15-30-year prison term, and one count of possession of child pornography, which carries a maximum prison term of 20 years.

A sentencing date is not scheduled.

Eddy has been detained since October 2022, when he was arrested on related state charges.

This matter is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Simsbury Police Department, with the assistance of the Manchester (N.H.) Police Department.
