Rash Of Attempted Car Thefts Worry Simsbury PD
The Simsbury Police Department said several local neighborhoods have been impacted in the past week.
SIMSBURY, CT — A rash of car thefts and attempted thefts in town recently is causing concern for the Simsbury Police Department.
The SPD Saturday issued an alert about the situation, indicating the spree happened in "the last week."
Areas of town especially impacted included: Route 185 (Hartford Road); Musket Trail/Squadron Line neighborhoods; Somerset Lane; the Westborough and David Drive neighborhoods — south end between Route 10 and Hopmeadow Street; Route 167 (Bushy Hill Road); and Old Farms Road.

"SPD is actively investigating and continuously working to prevent these attempts and thefts," wrote police in a bulletin. "Most of these are entries into unlocked vehicles, but one vehicle was stolen."
As a result, police are urging folks to help to prevent/solve the crimes, including locking vehicles; securing keys and fobs away from locked vehicles; and utilizing motion sensors/cameras if possible.

Residents should also be vigilant, police said.
"Please call us if you see or hear anything suspicious or concerning to you," wrote the SPD.
