Simsbury Canine Business Suffering Unwarranted Backlash Over Muzzle-Taping Incident
A minor connection through a "Facebook friend" has caused undue problems for the sisters who own the popular dog grooming and daycare site.

A small Simsbury dog grooming and daycare business recently received considerable backlash due to a misperception that it was tied to the woman arrested for duct-taping her dog’s mouth shut.
A Facebook post under the user name “Katie Brown” showed what appears to be a chocolate lab with silver duct tape around its muzzle, with the caption, “This is what happens when you dont shut up!!!”
Among the Facebook friends listed on “Brown’s” account is a person who worked at Doggie in the Window LLC. Immediately, negative comments began spewing about the business, according to an NBC Connecticut report.

Sisters Ellen Hickey and Martha Hickey, who co-own the Hopmeadow Street shop, told Channel 30 they were “just astonished” that people would link their thriving, reputable business to the woman who posted the photo.
“Katie Brown” is actually Katharine Lemansky, a former Avon resident who was arrested over the weekend in Cary, N.C. and charged with cruelty to animals.
