SIMSBURY, CT — It's been nearly six months since former Simsbury Town Manager Maria Capriola, the town's first-ever such official, left her position.

But the town appears to have a yet-to-be-named finalist for her replacement.

Since May 1, Simsbury has utilized Simsbury Police Chief Nicholas Boulter and ex-Wethersfield Town Manager Lee Erdmann on an interim basis.

But next week, the Town of Simsbury will unveil to the public a finalist — yet to be identified — to fill the role permanently.

A public reception will take place Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Simsbury Fire District Main Station, 871 Hopmeadow St.

The public event will consist of a short presentation by the finalist, followed by a question-and-answer portion.

Parking for the program is available at 871, 833 and 933 Hopmeadow Sts.

Over the summer, the Town of Simsbury has been working with its hire consultant, GovHR USA out of Northbrook, Ill., to find a new appointed chief executive.

If all goes as planned, the finalist could be hired by the Simsbury Board of Selectmen later this year, perhaps sooner rather than later.
