SIMSBURY, CT — Simsbury officials have hired the firm expected to guide the town toward hiring a new town manager.

Simsbury First Selectmen Wendy Mackstutis said last week the town's executive search committee, comprised by the Simsbury Board of Selectmen, hired GovHR USA in Illinois to help Simsbury find a new chief executive.

Ex-Simsbury Town Manager Maria Capriola left her job May 1, the town's first-ever manager following a charter change prior to her hiring in December 2017.

Mackstutis said GovHR USA, based out of Northbrook, Ill., was the best of three firms bidding to serve Simsbury.

"We all agreed that we liked their methodology – from creating a desired town manager profile, to bringing in qualified candidates - which includes multiple stakeholders along the way," wrote Mackstutis in a report to selectmen. "We all felt they were a good fit to work with our community."

The search for a top Simsbury manager is expected to take between three and four months, according to Mackstutis.
