Before firefighters could begin work putting out the blazes, Eversource Energy crews were called to cut the power to allow firefighting to safely take place, the SVFD said.

The situation closed the road from early Wednesday afternoon well into the morning hours Thursday.

Images posted by the SVFD via Facebook show a completely blocked road and two burning vehicles.

Meanwhile, Facebook comments praised both police and firefighters for their quick action.
