Simsbury High School Art Display is a Visual Treat

Work can be viewed over the next day and a half.

Over the next two days, Simsbury residents have a chance to view visual art that includes everything from a classic studio portrait to a dress made of playing cards.

The Simsbury High School art show, displayed in the "blue" gym at Simsbury High School, is the culmination of the year-long study in the visual arts, said art director Cynthia Rehm.

The show includes the work of some 400 students in grades 9 to 12. Many seniors have several pieces on display in shared gallery spaces along the edge of the gym.

In all about 2,000 pieces are displayed in a variety of media including photography, sculpture, film, paint, jewelry, fashion and much more.

"It's extremely comprehensive," Rehm said.

The show can be viewed Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

The general public is encouraged to view the pieces, which are in the gym near the main entrance to the school. Day-time visitors can simply check in at the main office before viewing the exhibit.
